Peanut Brittle

Ingredients


3 cups
Sugar
1 ½ cups
Syrup, clear (white)
1 1/3 cups
Water
2 cups
Peanuts, raw
1 tablespoon
Butter
1 teaspoon
Soda
1 teaspoon
Vanilla

Directions


Stir sugar, syrup and water in deep kettle over hot fire until it boils. Cook until it hairs*. Then drop in peanuts and butter. Begin stirring on stove and continue until peanuts smell roasted. Turn off heat. Add soda and vanilla. Stir until blended. Pour on buttered surface and pull out thin.
